Since his first days as a student at Aldershot, Beeks had been attracted to coaching and he even earned his preliminary coaching certificate alongside Dale Banton. Following being released, he started coaching children for a living initially working in conjunction with Colin Smith then working successfully in a variety of clubs and local schools and achieving a record- breaking success at the small Our Lady of the Rosary School (Staines). The year 1994 was the first time he led his Staines Town u10 1/2 team to the Aland Islands, a tour that he made every year, and winning the Alandia Cup – which at the time was Europe’s most prestigious single-age group competition – twice in 1995 and ’96 under the name Staines Town, and six more times with Steve Beeks Soccer School (England) SBSS. Beeks’ senior coaching career started in June 1999 when he was appointed Player-Manager of Cove, taking this perennially under-achieving club to a Combined Counties Football League and League Cup double, and the last 16 of the FA Vase. Another highlight of his two seasons there was knocking Bognor Regis Town out of the FA Cup, followed by a narrow loss in a replay to Lewes.

Beeks then signed with Isthmian Then he joined Isthmian Premier Sutton United, where he was a player for the first period of the 1991/92 season when he scored on his debut in a 1-0 win against Martin O’Neill’s Wycombe Wanderers F.C.. Stephen John Beeks (born 10 April 1971) is an English former professional footballer and Pro licensed coach. Beeks is currently serving as Academy Director at IFK Mariehamn, a Finnish Veikkausliiga league team which played during the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League.

In September ’88, an 17-year-old Beeks got signed with English Football League 3rd Division (now EFL League One) team Aldershot which was where he completed an apprenticeship of one year. He was named the Youth Team player of the year and received an official contract. Beeks was ill and prevented him from playing football for a lengthy period, but he was able to return to play in his Football League debut (a home defeat to Hereford United) on 1.5.89. The season came to an end. 1988/89 Beeks signed a new one-year contract and only played two additional Football League appearances but was an integral part of the first team squad. One of the highlights for the year was when he scored two goals against Arsenal in an away match for the reserve team as well as being a part of the Aldershot’s FA Cup run which ended with a loss to West Ham United in a 3rd Round replay. This was followed by his release in May of ’91.

Staines were promoted into the Isthmian Premier when finishing 3rd in 1995/6. However, 6 months later, Beeks opted to return to Aldershot by signing for the new Aldershot Town (1992), where he played from Dec ’96 to Jan ’98, becoming one of only eight players to have represented both the town’s original and reformed clubs.

Stephen John Beeks, was born in Ashford, Surrey, England on 10.4.1971. Beeks was at Chelsea for a short period before he signed for Egham Town F.C.’s Youth team at 15 and made his senior debut just a year later. Beeks scored on his debut in a 2–0 win v local rivals Chertsey Town. He made a significant number of appearances in their Isthmian, Suburban and Allied Counties Leagues sides during the ’87/8 campaign and received their Billy King Most Improved Player trophy.
