Stepan Protsiuk is one of the most popular and richest Writer who was born on August 13, 1964 in Brody Raion, Ukraine. Stepan Protsiuk was born on 13 August 1964 in the tiny village Kuty in the Lviv Oblast of Ukrainian SSR. His parents were teachers at the school as was his father, a politician prisoner, who was sentenced for anti-Soviet propaganda prior to the birth of Stepan. Soon after his birth, his parents relocated into Ivano- Frankivsk Oblast.
Stepan Protsiuk started his literary career as poet in the beginning of the 1990s. With Ivan Tsyperdiuk and Ivan Andrusiak the group was founded by New Degeneration, which was one of the most well-known Ukrainian poetry groups in the beginning of the 1990s. New Degeneration sparked controversy among some prominent Ukrainian authors and critics of literature, for instance, Oles Honchar criticized the group’s attitude towards literature as well as Lina Costko praised it. The group in 1992 released their debut collection, New Degeneration (foreword by Yurii Andrukhovych) and included Protsiuk’s collection entitled”At the Edge of Two Truths. The group was active up to the mid-1990s.
Stepan Protsiuk is a member the Ukrainian center of PEN International. Protsiuk was a member of National Writers’ Union of Ukraine since 1995 until he quit the organization in 2017, claiming that he had “different views on the development of the Ukrainian literature”.
In the late 2000s, Protsiuk debuted with his novels for children. First novel, Mariyka and Kostyk, was followed by two sequels, In Love with the Sun and Argonauts. All of them were published in Kyiv-based publishing house Grani-T. Protsiuk also authored three books for children published in Vinnytsia-based publishing house Teza.
In the latter part of 1990, Stepan Protsiuk stopped writing poetry, and then gradually moved to prose work. His debut novel Infection The Infection, among his more acclaimed books, was published in 2002 and focused on psychological and social issues. It was set in the 20th century Ukraine. Protsiuk was praised as well as criticism for his portrayal of the mental and national problems of Ukrainians.

Stepan Vasylovych Protsiuk (Ukrainian: Stepan Vasil’ovich Protsiuk ; born 13 August 1964 in Kuty, Lviv Oblast) is a modern Ukrainian writer, essayist, and poet.
A number of works written of Stepan Protsiuk are included in the list of books recommended to be read in middle and high schools in Ukraine. Alongside other poetry groups that were formed in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, the group New Degeneration co-founded by Protsiuk is included in the programme of External Independent Evaluation the state-wide test that is used for admission into universities. Protsiuk’s novels for teens are suggested for reading in 7th grade. His book Infection is recommended to students in the 11th grade.
Stepan Protsiuk studied in Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and obtained a PhD (Candidate of Sciences) degree in philology in the Institute of Literature of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since the early 1990s, he has been living in Ivano-Frankivsk and teaching Ukrainian literature at the Precarpathian National University alongside with his writing career.
