Stathis Tavlaridis is one of the most popular and richest Football Defender who was born on January 25, 1980 in Provatas, Central Macedonia, Greece. Stathis Tavlaridis (Greek: Stathes Taularides ; born on 25 January, 1980) is a Greek retired football defensive player. Tavlaridis has earned himself the nickname “Taureau” in France which is a French word meaning “The Bull” due to his fierce style of play.

The 30th of April, 2010, AEL announced that they had reached an agreement with the centre-back, 29, who will join the club this summer of 2010 on a no-cost transfer after the contract he signed at les Verts has been finally closed. The nickname ‘Taureau’ is in France due to his brash style of playing The Greek had a great start at the top of Ligue 1 with Lille OSC as well as AS Saint-Etienne, though he was not a fan with the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in the course of this season under the head Coach Alain Perrin. The former Olympique Lyons coach was fired, Tavlaridis had an immediate opportunity to shine with the new coach Christophe Galtier, though his suspension in the match against Olympique de Marseille 10 minutes into his first game in charge effectively ended his initial playing career for the Les Verts. On his new club’s official website Tavlaridis, the Greece player admitted: “I admit that initially my priority was to continue my career abroad. I had set a deadline of April if I was going to return to Greece, for a return after nine years requires serious preparation, since I now have a family. I had suggestions from three or four Greek clubs, but after much careful consideration, decided to accept that the offer of AEL.” Tavlaridis acknowledged that there was a firm deal from the Greek club in January last year however he resisted this due to due to give birth to his third baby. A four-year deal has been agreed in conjunction with The Super League side, who finished the season the eighth position.

On 9 August 2011, however, Tavlaridis terminated his contract without following the team’s relegation to the Football League.

On 2 June 2012, Tavlaridis agreed to sign for Atromitos Athens. Tavlaridis after the signature said: “I chose Atromitos Athens as the next stop of my career, because it is a serious and organized group. However, the presence of Mr. George Spanos, gives me the security I need as he is a serious president who promises in today’s reality is something really scarce. At this stage therefore I need a club like Atromitos Athens where in the recent years besides the creation of a good team ,offers to the player all the amenities and services in order to send his best on the pitch. It is true that I received recommendations from several people who forced me to sign with the club. Atromitos Athens through his technical director Yiannis Angelopoulos showed me a comprehensive plan. So I think that is the team that suits me more. An additional motivation is of course the presence of Dusan Bajevic, whose skills and successes are well known. I do not like promises but I tried my best to fulfill the goals of the club.”

Tavlaridis started off to a fantastic beginning in the 2007-08 season making his goal scoring debut for AS Saint-Etienne in a 2-1 win against Sochaux the next week. Tavlaridis was on contract during this summer for AS Saint-Etienne and a number of Premier League clubs were at the time willing to provide him with the chance to return to England. This was the case the club appointed him the permanent captain of the club under director Alain Perrin following the first league game during the 2009-10 Ligue 1 season, after being vice-captain for in the previous season. Tavlaridis was dismissed from the captain’s role shortly after due to his lengthy injury. The move also resulted in his playing time being cut and he only played six games in the year for the Saint-Etienne. Tavlaridis totaled 69 appearances in his Ligue 1 team, scoring twice.
