Sospeter Mwijarubi Muhongo FGSAf, FTWAS, FAAS, CGeol, EurGeol, MASSAf, FGIGE, MP (born 25 June 1954) is a Tanzanian geologist who is a member nominated to the Tanzanian Parliament.
He was the minister of Energy and Minerals from May 2012 until January 2015 in the wake of the Tegeta Escrow scandal. He was succeeding in his place by vice- minister George Simbachawene. He was elected the MP for the seat that is Musoma Rural in the general election, and was later named to his previous portfolio by the president John Magufuli.
The year 2009 was the time he appeared one of the candidates nominated from Tanzania to be the candidate for the position of Director General at UNESCO.
