Soren Hunter Miles Sussman Thomson (born May 5th 1981) is an American right-handed World Champion and two-time Olympian fencer in the epee. He was a member of his country in the United States in the 2004 Olympics in Athens at which he made it to the quarterfinals, and finished 7th place, which was the highest US performance in the competition since 1956, and was at the time, the second best US performance of all time. Thompson also took part in the US at the 2012 Olympics in London. Thompson was awarded the gold medal and the an international championship for the team competition during the 2012 World Fencing Championships. Thompson was inducted into the USA Fencing Hall of Fame in the year 2018 and will be admitted into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2020.

Other NCAA honors include First Team All-American in 2001-02 and 2005, as well as Honorary All-American in 2003, First Team All-Ivy in 2001-03 and 2005 as well as Academic All-Ivy in 2005.

Thompson competed on the U.S. men’s épée team at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. They finished fourth. He subsequently won a team gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Thompson took 8th in the 2003 World Fencing Championships in Havana, Cuba, defeating top seed Ivan Kovacs of Hungary (15–14).

Thompson was born in San Diego, California, and was a student at Torrey Pines High School, which he graduated from in 1999. Thompson went on to Princeton University, majoring in Art and Architecture. While at Princeton, Thompson took a year off from school to concentrate on his work before his participation in the 2004 Athens Olympics. After his participation in the 2005 Olympics, Thompson graduated from Princeton in the year 2005, and then began his career.
