She received 1,040 votes (1.9%) and finished fourth out of four candidates. Three months later the Labour Party announced they would be targeting Shipley at the next election and their candidate would be selected from an all-women shortlist, Jo Pike was chosen in December the same year.

Walker was elected party leader in March 2018 with over 90% of the vote. The term of office is five years and was due to run until 2023, but Walker resigned in early 2019 citing frustration at the lack of diversity within the party. Walker was replaced as leader by Mandu Reid.

Walker introduced the policy manifesto for Women’s Equality Party (WE) Women’s Equality Party (WE) at Conway Hall, 20 October 2015, and it outlines six key goals that include equal representation in both business and politics as well as equal representation in education and employment; equal pay; equal coverage of females in mainstream media; equality in parental rights; and ending of violence against females. Walker stated on the BBC Radio Wales Sunday Supplement show that the party will adopt an approach that is non-partisan to the elections, “We will be undertaking consultations with our members and deciding which seats to target.” WE can be the one UK political party that offers an affiliate program with other political parties.
