In Ettingen, Grippo came through the ranks of FC Basel youth system and played for two seasons in their reserves team. He was then sent on loan to the feeder side FC Concordia Basel during the 2007-08 season. The initial loan was an oblong half-season loan with Concordia Basel but this was extended in December and became an all-season loan.
In summer 2008 , he signed with AC Bellinzona on loan, however, a month after that, on the 5th of August the 5th of August, he was signed by A.C. Chievo Verona of Italian Serie A on a permanent contract.
On 19 December 2013, the Swiss Football League (SFL) announced that Grippo had signed for Vaduz. On 13 June 2017, he signed a two-year contract with Spanish Segunda División side Real Zaragoza. On January 31, 2020 Grippo signed for Segunda side Real Oviedo.
