Simon Makienok Christoffersen (Danish pronunciation”‘simon mae’khi’nk” born on 21 November, 1990) is a Danish professional footballer who is a striker for two. Bundesliga club Dynamo Dresden.

Makienok was signed by Brondby IF on 28 January 2012 following a EUR550,000 move to the club from HB Koge, signing a four-year contract that binds with the team until end of 2016. Makienok made his debut on March 4, 2012 in a 1-0 win over SonderjyskE. His first strike for Brondby came on March 18 2012 in a 2-1 home victory over FC Nordsjaelland. He scored 11 goals across 33 cup and league appearances during the season 2011-12 with HB Koge and Brondby.

Makienok has also represented Denmark at senior and several youth levels, gaining his first cap for the senior side on 22 March 2013 as a 85th-minute substitute in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic which ended in a 3–0 win for Denmark.

born in Naestved and grew up in Herlufmagle Makienok first started playing for the local soccer club Susa IF at the age of 4 before moving towards Naestved Boldklub a few years later. On the 27th of August 2007 he was transferred to Herfolge Boldklub youth academy. Later, he revealed on the radio program Fodboldeffekten in Radio 100, that Naestved Boldklub attempted to keep the player by giving the opportunity to work at the local Shell fuel station due to the lack of funds for players to be paid. After spending an entire time in Herfolge, Makienok signed a five-year agreement for the team. On the 22nd of June, 2009, he was transferred to the first team that competed with the Danish 1st Division (second highest division). He scored 22 goals over 58 league games for Herfolge and later HB Koge, as part of a merger that took place in 2009.

Makienok began his professional career at Herfolge Boldklub – the club that later became HB Koge – making his debut on the 13th of April in 2009 prior to joining Brondby In January of 2012 with a price of 550,000 euros. After two- and-a-half years at Brondby where the club was barely able to avoid being relegated, Makienok was signed by Italian club Palermo for a sum estimated at EUR2.3 million on August 2014. Palermo then loaned him to English teams Charlton Athletic and Preston North End prior to signing with Dutch club FC Utrecht in 2017. After two European matches for the club, he was struck by an injury to his knee that forced him to miss two years. He was signed by Dynamo Dresden in January 2020.

On 20 August 2013, Brøndby announced that they had accepted an €3.8 million (DKK28.5 million) offer from a Russian club for Makienok. However, Makienok was not interested in the move and decided t stay. According to multiple Danish newspapers, he turned down a weekly salary of €34,000 (€1,632,000/year) from Russian club FC Terek Grozny. In the same year, he caught the attention of several French clubs and English sides Crystal Palace and Fulham while his price tag was reported as over €4 million. According to several Danish media sources, Makienok had rejected a contract extension wanting to pursue new challenges during the 2014 summer transfer window.
