He was transferred into the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India on 22 July 2010.

In 1995, Professor Gadre created in 1995 the Interdisciplinary School of Scientific Computing in the University of Pune and has been its Director since 1995. He has written and co-authored more than 220 papers in top-quality journals. He has been a mentor to 18 PhD students and 46 master’s degree students. Professor Gadre has also written, co-authored and co-edited several chapters in books.

When she returned in India, Gadre joined as an instructor in the Department of Chemistry of University of Pune and was promoted to Professor in Physical Chemistry in 1988. After joining to the University of Pune, Gadre’s research has been focused on studying molecular scalar fields as well as their topographical properties. In 1985, he developed the concept of maximum entropy that has since been studied with other scientists. Gadre has been in the forefront of research into chemical reactivity as well as weak interactions by making application of molecular electrostatics and momentum density. Gadre also has developed algorithms and algorithms that efficiently parallelize quantum chemical ab initto calculations. Recently, he pioneered an approach known as”Molecular Tailoring” Approach which seeks to determine precise one- electron properties for large molecules, by breaking molecules into smaller pieces and then combining calculations on these individual fragments. The method is now expanded to allow geometry optimization and Hessian (vibrational frequency) calculation of large molecules in a speedy method even on a basic personal computer.

For his work for his work, Professor Gadre was named as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences in 1992. He was also elected to an associate of the Indian National Science Academy in 1996. He was also awarded the highly coveted Shantiswarup Bhatnagar Award in Chemistry (1993) which is presented each an year by the president of India to scientists below 40 years old who have made significant contribution to the field of science. Since 2000, Professor Gadre has been involved in his participation in the Indian as well as the International Chemistry Olympiads.

He returned to University of Pune in 2016 as a Distinguished Professor in Interdisciplinary School of Scientific Computing.
