He was a candidate for the seat in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as an independent candidate for the constituency 226 of PP-226 (Bahawalnagar-II) during the 1993 Pakistani general election , but was unsuccessful. He was able to win 37 votes, but was defeated by Noor Muhammad Ghaffari, who is a candidate for the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N). The same year, he sought the seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan as an independent candidate for the constituency NA-144 (Bahawalnagar-I) but failed. He was able to win 502 votes, but was defeated by Mian Abdul Sattar Laleka, who is a member of the PML-N.
He was elected as a member of his seat in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate for PML-N from the constituency the PP-226 (Bahawalnagar-II) at the time of 1997’s Pakistani general elections. He won 27,467 votes and was defeated by Mian Manzoor Ahmed, who was a candidate for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
On 12 September 2018, he was inducted into the provincial Punjab cabinet of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. On 13 September 2018, he was appointed as Provincial Minister of Punjab for Zakat and Ushr.
