Shiny was interested in sports as a young girl, but honed her skills when she joined the sports division in Kottayam.

She also cherishes the memory of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics when she became the first woman to be the flag bearer for India at the Olympics.

While she didn’t take home any medals in one of four Olympics her as well as P.T. Usha were able to propel India to a surprising women’s 4X400 relay final in 1984’s Games.

Shiny Wilson (nee Abraham, born 8 May 1965) is a retired Indian athlete. She was an Indian National Champion in 800 metres for 14 years. Shiny Abraham Wilson (Shiny Abraham) represented India more than 75 times in international competition. She has the privilege having represented Asia during 4 World Cups, She is perhaps the only person who has participated at six Asia Track and Field meets in succession from 1985 to Jakarta. In this time, she took home seven gold and five silver bronze medals at the Asian competitions. She won a total of 17 gold medals and 2 silver awards from her seven South Asian Federation (SAF) events she’s competed in.
