Shigeru Iwasaki is one of the most popular and richest General who was born on February 3, 1953 in Iwate, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Shigeru Iwasaki (Yan Qi Mao, Iwasaki Shigeru, born February 3rd 1953) was the 4th Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. A four- star General of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, Iwasaki was the highest- ranking military official in Japan and was ranked third on the chain of command overall (after The Prime Minister, and minister of Defense).
In January 2012 General Iwasaki was elevated to Director of Staff for the Joint Staff, becoming the most senior official in the Japan Self-Defense Forces. General Iwasaki replaced GSDF general Ryuichi Ariki while his Chief of Staff Vice was Koichi Isobe. He has supervised numerous important national security matters, including the ongoing Senkaku Islands dispute as well as the possibility of revising Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution (following the Liberal Democratic Party’s massive election victory in December 2012).
In December of 2010 General Iwasaki was appointed General Iwasaki’s 31st Chief of Staff for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The Chief of Staff led the acquisition of 5th generation Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.

Iwasaki was born in and was raised within the Iwate Prefecture and attended Morioka Third High School. He was a student at in the National Defense Academy of Japan before joining the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in 1975. He’s qualified to fly in the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, the primary Japanese jet fighter.
In August 1991, Lieutenant Colonel Iwasaki was appointed the commander of the 201st Tactical Fighter Squadron. As of December 27, 1997 Colonel Iwasaki was appointed the commander of the 7th Air Wing. In January of 2001, Major General Iwasaki assumed command of the 2nd Air Wing.
In 2015 he was appointed an honorary Officer in the Military Division of the Order of Australia, for his role in enhancing defence engagement and practical co-operation between Australia and Japan.
