In 2019, Capito announced support for paid family leave. In 2020, she opposed budget cuts due to the “spending needs” of states like West Virginia. On economic issues, the National Journal gave her a rating of 53% conservative and 47% liberal.

Capito, and they have three kids three sons: Charles and Moore along with daughter Shelley. Her father spent two years in prison for corruption charges. She was also a sister.
