A student of Bukit Jalil Sports Academy, Mohd Shazlan Alias was part of the Malaysian under-18 team that was at the time under K. Rajagopal that competed in the ASEAN Football Championship Under-20 in Vietnam in July 2007. Despite the intense rivalry with Mahali Jasuli to be the right-back position Shazlan’s performances were exceptional enough to let him stay with his Harimau Muda squad that was at the time playing for the title of 2008 Malaysia Premier League.
Shazlan was later a player for his state of Terengganu during this year’s edition of Malaysia Super League but later transferred to the club’s feeder T-Team after just one season, to gain first-team experience. While playing for T-Team, Shazlan was selected to represent Terengganu in SUKMA 2010. The event is held in Malacca in which he managed to win their gold trophy for the third time in succession beating Selangor with a 1-0 win during the championship.
