Shaun Michael Cody (born January 22nd 1983) is an ex- American NFL nose tackle. He played in the NCAA football tournament with the University of Southern California (USC) and was recognized as an All-American consensus selection. Cody played in all 13 games in his junior defense lineman in 2003 and recorded 26 tackles, which included 10.5 loss (with the sack of six) as well as forced fumbles, a deflection, and three field goal attempts blocked. Cody was a first-team All Pac-10 selection, and was awarded third-team All-American distinction by The Associated Press. He was named an All-Star All-Pac-10 selection as well as a consensus first-team All American as a senior in 2004 after the team recorded a record-setting 45 tackles (29 in one game) 10 sacks 13 stoppages for loss 2 forced fumbles two fumble recovery and three deflections of passes. He was also captain of the team and was voted Pac-10 The Defensive Player of Year.
Projected as a late first-round selection by Sports Illustrated, Cody was ranked as the No. 2 defensive tackle available in the 2005 NFL Draft, behind only Travis Johnson. He eventually was the fourth lineman off the boards, after Johnson, Luis Castillo, and his USC teammate Mike Patterson.
An unrestricted free agent in the 2009 offseason, Cody agreed to terms on a three-year contract with the Houston Texans on March 23, 2009. In Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills in 2012, Cody suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs, but later returned to finish the game.
Cody was a student at his time at the University of Southern California, and was a member of Pete Carroll’s USC Trojans football team from 2001 until 2004. He was a defensive backup lineman in the first four games in 2001, and played the final eight games at tackle. He recorded 39 tackles. He also had seven losses (with five tackles) and one recovery of a fumble. Cody was a first-team All-America selection for the Freshman class. In 2002, his sophomore year, Cody started for his second season as a defensive player, playing in his first 6 games and recorded 20 tackles, including one for loss, deflection, the recovery of a fumble and blocked field goal.

Cody was born in Whittier, California. After spending his first school year with Damien High School in La Verne the school he attended was Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights. He also was a part of the Los Altos Conquerors high school football team. As a defensive lineman, Cody recorded 105 tackles and 22 sacks in his senior, and helped Los Altos to a 14-0 record and its second consecutive CIF Division VII championship. In his junior year Cody had 150 tackles as well as 51 tackles for losses 35 sacks and 10 deflections, and the force of 10 fumbles. Cody was honored as a senior by USA Today as their 1999 All-USA Defensive Most Valuable Player. He also took part in the very first U.S. Army All-American Bowl game on December 30th the 30th of December, 2000.
Cody was selected with the fifth pick of the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of the University of Southern California. He played four seasons for the Lions, recording 91 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interceptions in 53 games, before becoming a free agent following the 2008 season.
