After regaining his health from a severe injury that prevented him from being from playing during six weeks, O’Sullivan was able to add an National Hurling League medal to his collection in 2007, when Waterford beat Kilkenny by 0-20 to 1-18 during the championship.
Ballygunner lost two further finals in succession before O’Sullivan won his second championship medal in 2009 following a one-point defeat of Lismore after a draw and a replay.
O’Sullivan lined out in another Munster final in 2010 with Cork providing the opposition. A 2-15 apiece draw was the result on that occasion, however, Waterford went on to win the replay after an extra-time goal by Dan Shanahan. It was a second Munster winners’ medal for O’Sullivan.
O’Sullivan was a member of the squad in his time in the 2004 National League and immediately became an established member of the squad’s starting 15. Since then, he’s won two Munster medals as well as one National Hurling League medal. O’Sullivan was an All-Ireland second-place finisher on one occasion.

He made his senior debut when he was an teen in 2002 when Ballygunner began a stunning losing streak that saw them lose in three consecutive finals for the club championship. They broke this record in the fourth round when O’Sullivan taking home his very first championship trophy after a 2-10 to 1-12 defeat to De La Salle.
He made his competitive senior debut with the National League in 2004, before making his debut in the championship later in the season, playing in the Munster semi-final game against Tipperary. O’Sullivan then won his very first Munster medal when Waterford defeats Cork by 3-16 to 1-21 in one of the most thrilling Hurling matches ever played.
2008 began poorly for Waterford as the team lost their opening game to Clare as well as their manager Justin McCarthy. In spite of this poor start O’Sullivan’s side reached the All-Ireland final for the first time in forty- five years. Kilkenny provided the opposition and went on to trounce Waterford by 3-30 to 1-13 to claim a third All-Ireland title in-a-row.
