Shane Conlan is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on March 4, 1964 in Olean, New York, United States. Shane Patrick Conlan (born March 4 1964) was an ex-professional American footballer. He played for the college team in the state of Penn State University, where Conlan was a national champion in 1982 and 1986 but Conlan was red-shirted prior the the 1982 season, and was not allowed to play that year. In 1981, prior to beginning his Penn State career and after his final season in Frewsburg High School in which the coach was Coach Thomas Sharp, Conlan was named Western New York high school Player of the Year. In his time in Penn State, Conlan had 274 tackles and an all-time record of 181 solos. Conlan ended his football career as an all-pro three times in the league’s Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams.

Conlan was chosen by the Buffalo Bills as their No. 1 pick in the draft of the Buffalo Bills in the 1987 NFL Draft. In his first season, Conlan was named with the award of 1987 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award by The Associated Press. From 1988 until 1991, Conlan was able to make three consecutive visits to the Pro Bowl. Conlan was a member of his team the Bills (1987-92) in which Conlan was a part of the initial three Bills Super Bowl teams and the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams (1993-95) before leaving the NFL in 1995.

Conlan completed his senior campaign with a win at Penn State in the 1985 national championship game at the Orange Bowl against the University of Oklahoma. The final game of his senior season was his national championship match in 1986 against University of Miami. University of Miami in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl, Conlan had eight tackles, and two interceptions. The most memorable moment was when he returned one of the interceptions 38 yards back to his Miami 5-yard line in order to set the stage for D.J. Dozier’s game- winning touchdown. With Penn State’s victory of 14-10 Conlan’s team completed an unbeaten campaign, winning victory in the national title of 1986.
In his capacity as captain Conlan was the captain of 1986’s team in tackles, with 79. He also had an all-time high of 63 solo stop. In his two final collegiate seasons (1985 and 1986) Conlan was named as an All-American at the position of outside linebacker making him the sixth time he has been a two- time All-American in the history of Penn State. The award was presented by NEA in 1985 as well as in 1986 from Walter Camp, The Football News, Football Writers, Football Coaches, Associated Press, United Press International, and College as well as Pro Football Newsweekly in 1986. Additionally, Conlan was a 1986 finalist for the famous Butkus Award as the nation’s most outstanding linebacker. Conlan was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
Since Conlan’s retirement from the NFL, he has worked for Esmark Inc. as the company’s Vice President of Commercial Real Estate. In 2013, he was named the Pittsburgh Power’s Vice President of Corporate Partnerships.
