Shan Donte Foster (born August 20th 1987) was an American former professional basketball player. Foster was a guard at shooting for the Commodores college basketball team at Vanderbilt University. He is Vanderbilt’s all time top scorer both in points and three-point baskets. He is also among the Southern Conference’s top scorers with consecutive games in which he has made a three- point shot. Foster was named the Associated Press second team All-American for the 2007-2008 season of college basketball. Foster was named one of the winners for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award at the Final Four.
In Foster’s senior season, Foster was regarded as one of the most deadly shooting long rangers of the NCAA and was named an All-American candidate. Foster was, with the aid of the phenom freshman A. Ogilvy who was the team’s leader, led the Commodores to their most successful beginning in school history with 16-0, before losing in double overtime to Kentucky’s Kentucky Wildcats in double overtime at Rupp Arena on January 12 the 12th of January, 2008. In 2011, he re-signed with Mons-Hainaut for the 2011–12 season. Following the conclusion of the Belgian season, he joined Caneros de La Romana of the Dominican Republic.
Foster was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks with the 51st overall selection during the 2007 NBA draft. Foster joined the Mavericks for the 2008 NBA Summer League. Then he didn’t join the Mavericks since he joined Juvecaserta Basket of Italy for the 2008-09 season.
