Sergio Leo graduated in journalism from the School of Communication at UFRJ in 1983 . In the is the year he began working as an intern for”O Globo,” a newspaper “O Globo”. Before that, he had been an independent contributor to the magazine “Manchete” and “Ciencia Hoje”.
The year 1985 saw him relocated to Brasilia in Brasilia, where he worked from 1985 to 1989, as a reporter in Brasilia’s Brasilia headquarters of “Jornal do Brasil”, then between 1995 until 1996. He was also employed by other important Brazilian media outlets like “Folha de S. Paulo”, “O Estado de S. Paulo”, “ISTOE”, “O Globo” and TV Globo. He graduated in 2003 and received the postgraduate degree lato sensu in International Relations from the University of Brasilia (UnB). In 2002-2004 he was a professor of the Economic Journalism course at UnB.
