Sera Cahoone (born on the 4th of August 1975) is an American singer-songwriter hailing from Seattle, Washington. Cahoone’s music incorporates elements of traditional country-western music with contemporary indie rock and lo-fi music. She is also famous for her role on drums, particularly in the Carissa’s Wierd and Band of Horses.

In 2007 Cahoone had signed with an organization called the Seattle Label Sub Pop Records which was the home of the former Carissa’s Weird groupmates Ben Bridwell (Band of Horses) and, later, Mat Brooke (Grand Archives). Cahoone’s sophomore album”Only As The Day Is Long, released in the year 2008.

Sera Cahoone, and bandmate, Jason Kardong, were the first people to ever play music on the rooftop of Seattle’s iconic Space Needle as part of the Sub Pop Records Silver Jubilee Celebration on July 11, 2013. Their performance was broadcast live on radio station KEXP and streamed around the world.

In August 2015, Cahoone became engaged to Megan Rapinoe, a midfielder/winger for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team and the Seattle Reign FC of the National Women’s Soccer League. In January 2017, Rapinoe stated their wedding plans were on hold.

Since 2006 Cahoone started to record solo albums. The first album she released was self-released and self-titled album titled Sera Cahoone that was praised by the radio station indie-rock KEXP as well as NPR. Seattle indie magazine The Stranger called Sera’s debut “a breathtaking collection of sad and dusky songs that reveal an artist of remarkable depth as well as a truly stunning voice.”

The year 1998 was the time that Cahoone relocated in 1998 to Seattle, Washington, when the snowboarding shop she worked at in Colorado established a retail shop located in Washington state. She was employed there for two years before resigning. Then she worked in a café and was a musician.

Cahoone was the drummer of the group Carissa’s Wierd until the band disbanded in 2003. Then, Cahoone played drums with diverse bands, like Los Angeles singer-songwriter Patrick Park and, perhaps most importantly, Band of Horses. Sera and her band recorded her second Sub Pop record, Deer Creek Canyon, in February 2012 at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washington, over a two- week period with Los Angeles producer Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Vetiver). Additional vocals and tracking were done in Los Angeles over several weeks in early March. The record was released September 25, 2012.
