In a reshuffle of Gunner Ministry on 26 June 2018, Uibo was promoted to the Cabinet of the Northern Territory as Minister for Education and Minister for training.

Uibo was elected to the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly in 2016 in the electoral district of Arnhem that was which was previously was held by Larisa Lee. Uibo won the seat with 64 per cent of the 2-party votes, and reverting Arnhem to its previous status as a secure Labor seat. Lee who was under three different banners during her time (Country Liberal, Independent, Palmer United and independent again) was able to secure only just 117 votes. In the meantime, Uibo won 54 percent of the vote in the primary sufficient to regain her seat in Labor without having to ask for preference votes.
