Sebastian Strasser is one of the most popular and richest Director who was born on November 6, 1967 in Sibiu, Romania. The grandparents and parents of Sebastian Strasser were stage actors. At the age of six Sebastian Strasser was involved in stage productions as well as motion images. He graduated with an Abitur during his time at German Goethe College in Bucharest. From 1992 to 1996, he studied Journalism at the German Sport University Cologne” and Cinematic Arts from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Following his time in the Academy of Media Arts, He worked for the first German broadcaster (ARD) as journalist and author for a well-known German political radio show (Zak”Privatfernsehen “Privatfernsehen” with Friedrich Kuppersbusch).
In the year 2016 Sebastian relocated along with family members in 2016 to Los Angeles, where he is represented by Reset Content; his agents for television and film are with UTA: United Talent Agency.
In fall 2018 his dystopian series, Darklands, has been picked up by Warner Brothers and is currently in development (writers room). The 8 Episodes drama television series, for which Sebastian signs as Creator, writer, director and showrunner, is being co-written by Bernd Lange and produced by Ratpack Films and is projected to start production in fall 2021.
In 2019 he wrote and directed Apparat: 15 min. short film, starring Ulrich Thomsen and Ayelet Zurer, with cinematography by Rodrigo Prieto. The film is produced by Radical Media and The Mill and is going to premiere at festivals in 2020.
Sebastian Strasser is a German director of films and commercials. Strasser has been awarded more than 150 international awards for advertising. For instance, sixteen Lions in Cannes Multiple Gold in the London IAA, New York Festival, D&AD, Eurobest Festival, One Show, Clio Awards, Montreux, etc. He was awarded Gold in the D&AD Awards for the top Director in France 2010. Gold in the German Advertising Festival (VDW Award) for the most outstanding Director in Germany Graffite for the most effective direction in London D&AD 2019. London D&AD 2019 Gold for direction at the London LIA 2019 Gold to be awarded for direction in Cyclope Berlin 2019, and numerous ADC Awards around the world. Strasser was ranked as 13th in the Gunn Report’s Most Award-Winning Directors of the World and his spot “Kids on Steps” for Volkswagen was named among the top 20 commercials in the 21st century by The Gunn Report in 2015. His debut short film “Happy End” premiered at Berlinale Filmfestival in 2005. The most recent short film “Apparat” finished post-production in November of this year. His drama-based television show “Darklands”, is currently developing in collaboration with Warner Brothers and Ratpack Films (writers room) and is scheduled to begin production in 2021.
