Sebastian Valentin Bodu (born December 7 1970) is a Romanian politician, a Member of the European Parliament. Bodu was first elected to the European Parliament in 2007. He then was re-elected in 2009, and is a member of the European People’s Party group in the European Parliament. Bodu is the Vice- Chairman for the Committee on Legal Affairs and is also a member of the delegation responsible for Relations with Canada.
In 1996 the year 1996, he was admitted as an attorney in the Bucharest Bar. In 1996-1997 the year he was an internal legal adviser for Financial Markets International Inc. which is the US consulting firm in the area of capital markets. Following that in 1997-1998, as a national legal advisor at Carana Group Inc., the US privatization consulting firm (and from 1998 to 2004 as an internal legal advisor for the Romanian-American Fund of Investments, an investment fund that is closed-end and has American capital.
During 2004–2005, he works as Director of the Legal Division and Compliance of ING group Romania. He is specialized in corporate law, commercial law, banking law, capital markets, privatization, civil law, financial law, commercial competition law.
