Sean Robert Dickson (born 2 September 1991) is an South African professional cricketer who is part of Kent County Cricket Club. Dickson is a left-handed batsman in the top order. Dickson was born in Johannesburg and made his first-class debut at the age of 14 in South Africa before signing for Kent in July of 2015. Dickson is an British mother and has the UK passport, so he does qualify as an international member of the Kent team.

Dickson began the 2016 season as the opening batsman in the batting for Kent and became the 60th player in first class baseball history disqualified by the ball during the county’s opening Championship match of the season in the match against Leicestershire on Grace Road. He made his second century, the first time he has scored a double century for Kent during the 2016 County Championship against Derbyshire at Derby in May of 2016 and was a final score of the score of 207 without losing in their opening innings.

In July 2017 Dickson made a score of 318 for Kent against Northants at Beckenham in the County Championship. The innings was Kent’s second highest individual score in first-class cricket and the third triple-century scored for the county. Dickson batted for over eight hours and faced 408 balls. Batting with Joe Denly, he contributed to Kent’s highest partnership for any wicket, putting on 382 runs for the second wicket. Later in the season he made his fourth first-class century, scoring 142 against the touring West Indies team at Canterbury in August. He ended the season having scored 982 first- class runs.

Dickson is one of only two men to have made a triple-century for Kent. He scored Kent’s second highest overall individual total in July 2017, making a score of 318 runs.

Dickson signed an extension of his contract for Kent in August 2016 after having earned a spot on Kent’s County Championship side for the county throughout the year. He only played in a few overs games in 2016 for the county however he did score 99 points in his sole appearance in the 2016 Royal London One-Day Cup appearance which was his highest List A score. He was named one of the Kent Supporters Club most promising uncapped player of the season in January of 2017.

Dickson was a cricketer at Pretoria University before being called to his Northerns group in November of 2013. He made his first appearance in the first-class field against Border. He scored his first First-class century for Northerns during the CSA Provincial match against North West at Potchefstroom in March of 2014, and was then dismissed after 173. Dickson was involved in nine first-class games for Northerns during the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons as well playing for Northerns at List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket in CSA Provincial competitions.

In the early part in the year 2015 English cricket season, Dickson relocated to England to play for the East Anglian Premier Cricket League for Woolpit in Suffolk. He was a part of the first trial match of Kent in May. He had previously been a part of a trial for Somerset in 2010 , while playing in the club cricket of Clevedon Cricket Club. Seven centuries in Second XI games with Kent in 2015 was the reason that Dickson sign an agreement with Kent in July. He made his debut for the senior team with Warwickshire at the Royal London One-Day Cup in August of 2015, and made his County Championship debut later in the time against Derbyshire. He was named his 2nd XI National Player of the Year Award for the year 2015.

During the 2017/18 close season Dickson played in the US T20 Open tournament in Florida, playing for the US Tigers. In 2018 he scored three first-class centuries for Kent and featured in all formats of the game for the county. He signed a contract extension in November 2018.
