Creative Light Media also produced numerous re-stored compilations of old Sid Caesar comedy shows based on original material that was broadcast on NBC-TV’s 1950s. Your Show of Shows, together with the Showtime Documentary “Hail Sid Caesar” that incorporated sketches as well as conversations with members of the Original Show of Shows 1950s writing staff, including Mel Brooks, Neil Simon as well as Woody Allen. In Long Island, New York, Zakarin began making full length video films when he was just 15. He directed and wrote his debut feature film “The Gifted” in 1989 which that premiered in the Cannes Film Festival. He also wrote and directed the film Creating Rem Lezar which was a straight-to-video kids’ musical fantasy. Soon after, Zakarin packed up his van and relocated from New York to Los Angeles to begin his Hollywood career at the age of 26.
In 1995, as he was conducting commercials and the first tests on interactive television for the Fattal & Collins advertising agency, Zakarin became fascinated by the Internet. He spent a lot of time in chat rooms, and quickly realized it was the potential of this platform for entertainment that was not being utilized. In response, he teamed up together with Troy Bolotnick, Rich Tackenberg as well as Laurie Plaksin, (who also played the principal Tara Hartwick) Tara Hartwick) to create The Spot, the first web-based entertainment series that integrated the online diary, photos and videos, as well as groundbreaking methods of interaction to make an entirely new story-telling format dubbed “The Web Series”.
