In Long Island, New York, Zakarin began making full length video films when he was just 15. He directed and wrote his debut feature film “The Gifted” in 1989 which that premiered in the Cannes Film Festival. He also wrote and directed the film Creating Rem Lezar which was a straight-to-video kids’ musical fantasy. Soon after, Zakarin packed up his van and relocated from New York to Los Angeles to begin his Hollywood career at the age of 26.
