Scott Andrew McNiven (born 27 May 1978) is an English-born Scottish footballer. He made his debut with Oldham Athletic in 1995 before making the move to Oxford United in 2002. He co-managed Hyde alongside Steve Halford at the end of the 2010-11 season then returned a year later to take over the role of manager in full.

In the beginning of 2009-2010 season,, he joined with David, his brother David in Hyde. Scott was first introduced to the team with Stafford Rangers which Scott’s Hyde defeated by 1-0. On the 17th of October, 2010, Scott scored his first score in the name of Hyde with a score of 3-1 loss at Corby Town. He scored another goal that season, in a loss of 4-3 at the hands Blyth Spatrans. The 2009-2010 season ended playing for Hyde playing 42 times across all competitions, scoring two goals. 3 October 2010 was the day that McNiven was appointed the assistant manager of Neil Tolson at Hyde following the departure of the former Assistant manager Glynn Hurst. He was promoted to FC United of Manchester. He was named joint manager alongside Steve Halford after the sacking of Neil Tolson on 4 April 2011. He was replaced as manager-in-charge of Hyde before the beginning in the season 2011-12 in the 2011-12 season by Gary Lowe. He was appointed manager in May 2012. took over as the full-time manager following Gary Lowe resigned after just one year at the club. He was dismissed on the 2nd of January, 2015 following a 7-1 loss against Stalybridge Celtic.

McNiven was a part of Conference National newcomers Farsley Celtic prior to the start of the 2007-08 season. The debut of McNiven on the 11th August 2007 saw him go up with his brother, who played for Stafford Rangers. The team of Scott who won the match and Farsley secured a 1-0 victory. In July 2008, Scott joined Fylde as a free transfer to Fylde from Farsley Celtic.

The birthplace of the family was Leeds, West Yorkshire, England He progressed through the ranks of youth in Oldham Athletic in the Football League in which he later made 22 appearances before leaving in 2002 following ten years at the club. He was then signed by Oxford United where he stayed for two years, making 85 appearances. In 2004 he quit the club. He went to join Mansfield Town and then Chester City however, his release was granted by Chester in the year 2006 and not able to find an alternative club. After being released from Chester, McNiven was a part of Morecambe, Fleetwood Town and Guiseley and Guiseley, respectively.

His twin brother and father who were both known as David were also professional players. In 2007, while playing in Mansfield Town he was diagnosed with cancer of the testicle, but was able to recover fully. Following his treatment for cancer, he set out to help other people suffering from similar illnesses.
