Tom McCarthy was hired away from the Phillies by the New York Mets, their National League Eastern Division rivals (McCarthy returned to the Phillies broadcasting team in 2008). Franzke played in the sixth and fifth innings of 2006 alongside Larry Andersen. In 2007 Franzke took on more play- by-play duties and replaced Scott Graham in the broadcast booth, transferring the post-game and pre-game duties over to Jim Jackson. In 2008, and during the beginning of the 2009 campaign, Franzke called play-by-play in innings 1-3 and 5-9 along with Andersen as well as Harry Kalas joined Andersen for play-by- play duties in the fourth. Following the demise of Kalas, Franzke assumed play-by-play duties for the entire nine innings of the rest of the season. Franzke currently announces the innings of 1-3 as well as 6-9 in the home game (with Jackson taking over for innings 4 – 5) while calling the entire nine innings in home and away games when Jackson is not available due to his duties as the TV play-by-play voice of Philadelphia Flyers.
