Scott Jeremy Downs (born March 17th 1976) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher. He was a part of Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago White Sox. He was a pitcher as well as a reliever and closer throughout his career in baseball.

Downs was born in and was raised at Louisville, Kentucky. He was a student at Pleasure Ridge Park High School and was selected as Kentucky’s Mr. Baseball. He was picked for the Atlanta Braves in the 12th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft, however, he chose to go to University of Kentucky instead. University of Kentucky instead of signing an agreement with a professional team. He was a player in an collegiate summer league within the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. After the conclusion of his junior season in Kentucky the team was selected for the Chicago Cubs in 3rd round (94th overall) of the 1997 Major League Baseball draft.

Downs made his major league debut for the Chicago Cubs on April 9, 2000. he finished with a 4–3 record with an ERA of 5.17.
