Satsuki Fujisawa is one of the most popular and richest Curler who was born on May 24, 1991 in Abashiri, Hokkaido, Japan. Satsuki Fujisawa (Teng Ze Wu Yue, Fujisawa Satsuki born on 24 May, 1991) is a Japanese curler from Kitami, Hokkaido. As an individual skip, she has been crowned her place in the Japanese National Championship six times. Fujisawa was skipper of her bronze-winning Japanese team in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. Fujisawa is the current skipper for the Loco Solare curling team.

Fujisawa was dropped from her team to join Marimotohashi’s team as a skip in the month of May of 2015, relocating to Karuizawa returning to Kitami in the city where she been raised playing junior curling from 2009. A one year after, Fujisawa along with her team were a part of Japan in the 2015 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships, where she helped lead Japan to the first gold medal it has won since 2005 when they won the final game against Kim Ji-sun of South Korea. The following year Fujisawa along and third Chinami Yoshida and second Yumi Suzuki as well as the lead Yurika Yoshida, and substitute Mari Motohashi also competed for Japan at the 2016 World Women’s Curling Championship in Swift Current, Canada. In the round-robin phase of the tournament they came in second place with a 9-2 score and made it through the play-offs. They lost in the 1v2 contest against Binia Feltscher of Switzerland after which they bounced back in the semifinals, beating Anna Sidorova of Russia, who earned an entry into the gold-medal match. The rink of Fujisawa lost to the Swiss team but still managed to secure silver. This was Japan’s first podium appearance at the world championship.

Fujisawa began the 2017-18 curling season by winning the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic. The team won the 2017 Japanese Olympic Curling Trials in September 2017, defeating the Chiaki Matsumura rink 3 games to 1 in a best-of-five series. The team then went on to win a silver medal at the 2017 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships. After finishing in third after the double round robin with a record of 6-4, they upset China in the semifinal, before losing to Korea in the final. The next month, she won her second tour event of the season, the 2017 Karuizawa International Curling Championship.

After the 2018 Olympics, Fujisawa was awarded a wild-card spot in the 2018 Japan Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with fellow Olympian Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi. Despite having never teamed together and having very little mixed doubles experience overall, Fujisawa and Yamaguchi went undefeated to win the championship and the right to represent Japan at the 2018 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, where they would finish fifth overall.

In 2011 Fujisawa took part in her first international non-junior event, snatching Japan in the 2011 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships. She finished 4th in the eventand was able to finish with two-six points. Fujisawa was the first woman to win a World Curling Tour event in 2012, when she won the Shamrock Shotgun competition over an opponent from the South Korean national team, led by Kim Eun-jung. The following year, she skippered Japan to winning a silver medal in the 2012 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships. In the following season she steered her Japanese female team in a 7th place finishing in the 2013 World Women’s Curling Championship. In September 2013, Fujisawa along with her Karuizawa-based team, who had won three consecutive national championships took part in tests for national teams for Olympic Qualification Event 2013. They fell in the best-of-seven final against Ayumi Ogasawara’s Sapporo-based team in six games, and lost the possibility of participating in

The junior career of Fujisawa began by winning in the year 2008 at Pacific Junior Curling Championships over China’s Sun Yue. She was able to qualify her as well as her Japanese team to compete in an appearance at the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships, which they won 7th place with a 3-3 record. Fujisawa was able to defend the title of her Pacific Junior title by winning the 2009 Pacific Junior Curling Championships defeating China’s Liu Jinli in the final. In 2009, at the World Junior Curling Championships, she sailed Japan to a last (10th) place and two wins.

Fujisawa was a graduate of Hokkaido Kitami Hokuto High School in Kitami City in 2010. In the years between then and early 2015, while living in Nagano Prefecture she was employed as an office worker and curler at Chubu Electric Power, which has a female-only competitive curling team within Karuizawa, Nagano since 2009. After returning to Kitami she is employed by some local businesses who sponsor her team. She is currently working as an insurance agent.

Fujisawa skipped the Japanese rink at the 2016 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships. After posting a 6-1 round robin record, tied with China and South Korea, she would lead her team to a defeat against China in the semi- final. This meant that she would not be able to defend her silver medal at the World Championships, as she had to make it to the finals to qualify Japan for the 2017 Worlds.
