Lewitinn was born to New York City to Egyptian-Jewish parents, Lewitinn was raised and educated in Tenafly, New Jersey. She started her career as a teen, writing for the AOL-owned ABC Kidz site before interning at Spin Magazine. In that same year, that she earned the nickname of “Ultragrrrl”, by which she remains recognized. After a brief stint in the defunct Kurt andersen-run Inside.com In 1999 Lewitinn became an associate of Michael Hirschorn at VH1.
