The rower is the Australian national champion, as well as the current world champion, winning the 2017 and 2019 world title in the four-stroke coxless. She has competed for championships at national level in the Australian Rowing Championships in Huon Rowing Club colors on a number of occasions. She also took home the sweep-oared titles in all three female boat categories. She took the open women’s coxless pairs with Meaghan Volker as well as Coxless open four titles the Tasmanian composite crew, as well as the women’s open eight title. In 2019 Hawe was again picked in Australian women’s sweep squad for the international season. Hawe, Aldersey, Werry and Stephan were selected to race Australia’s coxless four at the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria. The four were looking for a top eight finish at the 2019 World Championships to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. They won their heat and semi-final, thereby qualifying the boat for Tokyo 2020. They led the final from start to finish, took the gold medal and regained their world champion title.
Hawe wasn’t called back into the national team until 2017, when she was selected as a coxless four member together with Lucy Stephan, Molly Goodman as well as Katrina Werry. They took part in the World Rowing Cups II & III and as a quartet they never lost one race during the world championships. In their 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida it was to be the same. They took their heat and began slowly and finished with sixth place after the 500m and fifth position at the mile mark. After the third 500m, they began to take on their fellow Dutch as they were joined by Poland and Russia all vying to be on the podium. The final sprint was when Stephan asked Goodman to increase the speed and with 43 strokes per min, the Australian four surged to the lead to win gold and the title of world champion ahead of Poland and Russia.

By the time of 2018 World Rowing Championships Popa was out of the four with an injury and Kat Werry back in. Seated as they had been in 2017, the Australian four won their heat, were surprised by a new combination USA crew in the semi and then in the final placed second to the US and finished with world championship silver.
