Growing up at Wellesley, Massachusetts, Sarah Blacker graduated from Wellesley High School prior to finishing her degree at the Berklee College of Music. A licensed music therapist, as well as an accomplished classically trained singer who worked as a full-time music therapist after her graduation. After that, she had a brief break to record her debut album, and is now back in part-time capacity.
She was awarded the honor of being named ‘Female Artist of the Year’ at the New England Music Awards New England Music Awards and was nominated for the Boston Music Awards in the Singer/Songwriter category and was recognized in this same award category at the Limelight Magazine Awards. In the same year, she had an original song from her, “Smell of Caramel” was featured in the opening of Season 6 episode 9 from the MTV show, Jersey Shore. In 2013, she was again nominated for Limelight awards, but this time , in the top music video category.

“The Only Way Out is Through” was the first Blacker album. Produced with Rob Loyot, the album was released in the year 2009. The album was followed up in 2011 by The album Come What May, her second album. It was recorded primarily at the 37′ Productions Studio, much of the album was composed with Sean McLaughlin, who also played the bass in the songs. Blacker saw the album as more in line with her personal vision of how it should sound as opposed to “The Only Way Out is Through” partly because she believed she was taking more direction from the studio than on her previous album. Reviewers were overwhelmingly favorable as well, with Aimsel Ponti calling her voice “radiant”, while Matt Lambert in Performer Magazine described her voice on the album as “enchanting”.
It was followed by an EP self-published by Blacker, “Perfectly Imperfect”. In the second quarter of 2012 Blacker launched a highly very successful PledgeMusic initiative to collect money in order to record her third album.
In 2015, Blacker released her third studio album, In Waves via ILS Music / Caroline / Universal Music Group.
