Sara Anna van de Geer (born 7 May 1958, Leiden) is a Dutch statistician and an instructor in the mathematics department in ETH Zurich. Her father is psychologist John P. van de Geer.
She is an active part of the Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and of the International Statistical Institute, a associate to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and an associate in the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. She was the president of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability during the time period 2015-2017. In 2018, she was appointed an official member of the Scientific Committee of the Mathematical Research Institute of Oberwolfach.
She was a guest speaker during her participation in the International Congress of Mathematicians in the year 2010.

She was a professor in her home at the University of Bristol from 1987 until 1988 and in Utrecht University from 1989 to 1990 in the Utrecht University from 1989 to 1990, in Leiden University from 1990 to 1997, and from 1999 until 2005 as well as in Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France, from 1997 until 1999. She then moved into ETH Zurich in September 2005 as a Full Professor. In Zurich, she was as the very first woman professor in the Department of Mathematics.
