The year 2005 was the time Fowdar had been selected to contest again as an Mauritian Militant Movement candidate for the position of Member of Parliament for Constituency No 9 Flacq and Bon Accueil but he was not elected, and was placed fourth in the race, behind the three members who were elected. Fowdar was selected to run during the general election of 2010 in the Mauritian Militant Movement for Constituency No 15, La Caverne and Phoenix and came in fourth and again, missing out by 5.8 percent when he was elected.

Fowdar resigned as a member of the Mauritian Militant Movement in October 2014 after being a member for 18 years and subsequently joined the Muvment Liberater. He stated having taken this decision “in the interest of the country” and that he is extremely dissatisfied with the Mauritian Militant Movement’s decision to ally with the Mauritius Labour Party.

Fowdar is a member of Muvment Liberater after resigning from the Politburo of the MMM in October 2014 citing his disagreement with the PTR–MMM alliance. He was re-elected as an MP for Grand Baie & Poudre d’Or in the 2014 general elections. Sangeet is married and has two sons.

Fowdar was Minister of Training in the Ministry of Training. The area for which his department was responsible for the creation of Human Resource Development Council in Mauritius. The institution was established to continuously assess the country’s demands for vocational education to cope with the changes in our economy. His ministry was also involved for the creation of the Mauritius Qualifications Authority in 2002 which was created to oversee the activities of organisations who specialize in vocational training (licensing operation as well as the definition of standards and norms).

Sangeet Fowdar FCCA MP (born 5 September 1957) is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) as well as a Mauritian politician who is an MP of Grand Baie & Poudre d’Or, Mauritius. The MP is part of the Public Accounts Committee and the Parliamentary representative for Mauritius in the World Trade Organization. Fowdar was previously the Minister of Training, Skills, Development, Productivity and External Communications Ministry of Training, Skills, Development, Productivity and External Communications of Mauritius in the Cabinet that included Sir Anerood Jugnauth between 2000 and 2003, and Paul Berenger from 2003 to 2005. Fowdar was elected the first time as the Member of Parliament from Flacq & Bon Accueil in 2000, the seat of the former Vice-Prime Minister Anil Bachoo, for whom he was Cabinet Minister. Fowdar studied at EW Fact in Holborn, London.

Fowdar was a member of Fowdar’s membership in the Mauritian Militant Movement in 1996 and was elected as a member of the Parliament in 2000 for Constituency No 9, Flacq and Bon Accueil. He was appointed minister as part of the coalition between Mauritian Militant Movement. Militant Socialist Movement and the Mauritian Militant Movement in a power sharing agreement.

Fowdar stood as candidate in the 2014 general elections for the Muvment Liberater for Constituency No 6, Grand Baie & Poudre d’Or under “Alliance Lepep” and was subsequently elected as Member of Parliament. Following the victory of “Alliance Lepep” in the elections, Fowdar re-entered parliament and was appointed as a member of the Public Accounts Committee and became the parliamentary representative for Mauritius at the World Trade Organization.
