The news was widely reported on November 7, 2017, when commenting on Italy’s 0-1 loss to Sweden during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers by declaring Sweden as Swedish “a team of refugees”. He was dismissed on 30 January 2018 because of disappointing results.
On 2 October 2019 he was announced as the new head coach of Serie C side Bisceglie in place of Rodolfo Vanoli. He was dismissed on 25 November 2019, after the team only achieved 3 draws and 7 losses in 10 games under his helm.
On 25 March 2019 he was named new head coach of Serie C club Casertana. After failing to guide the club to promotion, he was not confirmed at the helm of the club.
After a successful season as the head coach of the club and following the acquisition by Ternana from the Stefano Bandecchi (owner of the Universita of the Studi Niccolo Cusano) the coach was appointed the new director of football at the Serie B club in July 2017.

After a long career as a player that was almost all of it in amateur competitions, the coach launched his coaching career with one of the divisions in regional Lazio. Then he joined Serie C2 club Viterbese, acting as an assistant because he did not have the badges for coaches to function in a professional capacity as head coach. Similar to Olbia where he was in charge from July to November 2007. He was then the head coach of Serie D clubs such as Flaminia Civitacastellana (2008-09), Monterotondo (2009-10), Monterotondo Lupa (2011-12), Cynthia (2012) and Ostiamare (2013-14).
In October 2014, he was appointed the head coach of Fondi following the club’s acquisition of the club by Universita degli Studi Niccolo Cusano. The club resigned him in February 2016 but was able to take over following the summer when it was re-admitted by Lega Pro to fill a vacant position.
In December 2019, Pochesci was named as the new head coach of Moldovan National Division side FC Zimbru Chișinău after the club’s takeover by Italian inverstors. In early 2020, before the season had even started, Pochesci resigned from his position as head coach.
