Initially selected in the preliminary 30-man team to be selected for 2009’s ICC World Twenty20, Patel did not make the final 15-man squad due to continuing fitness issues. Geoff Miller commented “I’m disappointed for us and for him, but we’ve laid down the rules and players have to abide by them.
