Samit Patel is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on November 30, 1984 in Leicester, England, United Kingdom. Samit Patel was born Leicester on the 30th of November, 1984 He was the son of Rohit Patel and Sejal. His parents came out of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India and he is a relative of his. His brother Akhil (b. 1990) also plays for Nottinghamshire in the past, making the debut for Nottinghamshire in 2009. Patel studied at Eastwood Comprehensive School but later went to Worksop College in north Nottinghamshire where he played as a member of Nottinghamshire’s 1st XI cricket team for five seasons. While studying at the College, Patel represented England at the under-15, under-17 and the under-19 age group. Patel helped them to record victories against such schools as Repton, Manchester Grammar School and Shrewsbury School and such clubs as the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

While previously being included in England’s ODI , and T20 team for the trip to West Indies in March and April 2009, Patel was dropped over fitness concerns. Hugh Morris, the director of English cricket, said the following “Samit Patel is a talented cricketer but he, like every other player who joins the senior England team, must be aware of the strict fitness criteria that will be set. It is extremely frustrating that Samit has not heeded the warnings of his county, Nottinghamshire, and Geoff Miller [national selector] as well as the England management and strength and conditioning team. In the circumstances we had no option but to de select him from the tour … his fitness levels have regressed between his first assessment during the build up to the England Lions tour and the second Test during the first week in New Zealand.” Despite this setback in April 2009, Patel was chosen for England’s performance squad of 25 players. After working to build his fitness Patel stated “I have had to accept some difficult truths … I don’t want to be in a position again where I miss out on selection because of a lack of fitness”. Initially selected in the preliminary 30-man team to be selected for 2009’s ICC World Twenty20, Patel did not make the final 15-man squad due to continuing fitness issues. Geoff Miller commented “I’m disappointed for us and for him, but we’ve laid down the rules and players have to abide by them. He feels he’s been putting the work and time in, but he cannot explain it – the figures are there”. The month of September, 2009 was just a year after being granted an additional contract with the ECB Patel’s England contract was not renewed in 2009-2010. He was at the fringes of the list, but his fitness level prevented his selection. In January of this year, Miller stated that “He knows what is required … the ball is in his court now and he has to go away and understand what is necessary”. When the England’s 30-man provisional team to play in the 2011 World Cup was announced in December of that year, Patel was included. England head coach Andy Flower had commented that Patel’s style of playing will be well-suited for the pitch of the Indian subcontinent that was hosting the event, but his ongoing health issues meant that he wasn’t not chosen in the final 15-man squad and was not included after the team suffered injuries.

The new year began with Patel’s inclusion in the England Lions squad to tour Sri Lanka in late January and early February 2012 for a one-day series. Patel played in all five matches and scored 128 runs with a highest score of 50, and was the leading wicket-taker on either side in the series with 12 wickets. When the ODI squad to face Pakistan was announced in February Patel was included. In the first ODI he made an unbeaten 17 and took 3–26, as England won by 130 runs. England won the next game by 20 runs, with Patel taking figures of 2–51. Patel was not required to bat in the third game, as England recorded a nine wicket victory. England won the fourth game by nine wickets, although Patel did not pick up a wicket. During the series, which England won 4–0, Patel was given an incremental contract by the ECB.

Patel had been in the preliminary list for the player auction ahead of the 2012 Indian Premier League but opted to withdraw to concentrate on English domestic cricket as participating would have meant missing up to seven County Championship matches.

Patel began his career for England’s senior one-day squad during a match against Scotland on the 18th of August, 2008. His first wicket was from Neil McCallum and he finished with a score of 1/22 in seven overs. He also caught a ball and then thwarted Ryan Watson, the Scotland captain Ryan Watson. Patel continued to be in England’s ODI squad in the series with South Africa later that summer and took the notable catch of Herschelle Gibbs during the first ODI of the series in Headingley. Patel scored figures of 5/41 as he scored 31 runs in 49 ball in the third game of the ODI, which helped him take home an award for the “Man of the Match” prize in the event that England took the series. In September 2008 it was announced Patel along with six others – the group comprised mostly of ODI experts who were given an incremental contract in the England Cricket Board (ECB).
