In 2015, he played another 9 games in the 2015 season for Auckland when they made it to the Premiership final, but narrowly lost to Canterbury in 2016. the year 2016 was one that was a disappointment for him and his team. Auckland was not able to participate in the Premiership play-offs by finishing in 5th position in the log standings. A an injury restricted Prattley to only five starts in the course of the season.
While with Tasman, Prattley was involved in the Crusaders and Highlanders more general training teams, but didn’t participate in the required Super Rugby appearances. The move north to Auckland brought new opportunities for him, and injuries to the Blues front-row forced him to be brought into the team as an emergency replacement in the 2013 Super Rugby season. He continued to represent the Blues four times during the year and was promoted to a full-time contract the coming season. He was a part of the team for the Blues 10 times during 2014, and nine times in 2015. The majority of those appearances on the bench of substitutes.

Prattley was a part of the New Zealand Under-20 side which took home at the time of the IRB Junior World Championship. He scored one try during his three appearances at the tournament took place in Argentina.
After finishing high college, Prattley went on to play club rugby , and took his national provincial championship debut in 2010 for Nelson-based Tasman Makos for whom he went on to play 29 times over the course of three seasons. He moved north to join Auckland in the lead-up to the 2013 ITM Cup and quickly established his place as a regular wearing the jersey with the most number one. He played in 9 games in the ITM Cup, six of them at the beginning of the first season of his stay in the biggest city in New Zealand before playing in all 11 Auckland’s games in the 2013 ITM Cup which saw them make it to the Premiership semi-finals but fall to Taranaki in extra-time.
2016 saw Tana Umaga replace Sir John Kirwan as Blues head coach and this change saw Prattley become a more regular starter, playing 10 times during the season with 9 of these appearances coming from the start. Despite his injury problems during New Zealand’s 2016 domestic season, Prattley maintained his place in the Blues squad for 2017.
