Sagarika Ghose is one of the most popular and richest Author who was born on November 8, 1964 in New Delhi, Delhi, India. Her father is Bhaskar Ghose, who was previously from the Indian Administrative Service 1960 batch who was the Director General for a time at Doordarshan which is the Indian public television channel. Two aunts of hers are Arundhati Ghose who was a diplomat and ambassador for the former Ambassador as well as Ruma Pal, a former judge for the Supreme Court of India. Sagarika is the wife of journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai. Rajdeep Sagarika and Rajdeep Sagarika have two children: son Ishan along with daughter Tarini.

In a live show on November 9, 2011 Ghose announced Hindu religious chief Ravi Shankar as “joining us tonight” and asked him a series of questions, arguing and criticising his responses. When Ravi Shankar was on screen, “CNN-IBN Live” was played in the live feed. But, Ravi Shankar was interviewed earlier in the day and his comments were edited before being presented as responses to questions Ghose asked live. After being criticized, Ghose claimed “technical issues”, before she and CNN-IBN gave an apology in writing.

Ghose has been a journalist since 1991 and has worked at The Times Of India, Outlook magazine and The Indian Express. In 2004 she became the first woman to host Question Time India. She was the deputy editor and a prime time anchor on the news network CNN-IBN. Her writings and broadcasts have earned her popularity and also criticism from right-wing viewers. Ghose’s Twitter interview with Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party in 2013 became the first instance of an Indian politician giving a social media interview prior to the polls. Ghose resigned from CNN-IBN on 5 July 2014 after the network was acquired by the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries ltd. She was deputy editor of the channel.

In her 2018 non-fiction book, Why I Am A Liberal: A Manifesto For Indians Who Believe in Individual Freedom, Ghose describes herself as a liberal who believes in rule of law, limited government, robust institutions and individual liberty. Ghose propounds the thesis that although the republic of India was founded as a liberal democracy in 1947, subsequent Indian governments throughout the post-Independence period have sought to attack individual liberty and vastly increase the powers of the government, or the powers of what she calls the Indian ‘Big State’.

Ghose has written two books: The Gin Drinkers, published in 1998 as well as Blind Faith, in 2004. Blind Faith was published in 2004. Gin Drinkers has also been published within the Netherlands. Ghose has published a highly popular biography of the former Indian PM Indira Gandhi Indira The Most Powerful India’s Primate of the Nation (Juggernaut books) in the year 2017. The biography is scheduled for a movie.

In 2014, The Rhodes Project included Ghose on a list of 13 famous women Rhodes Scholars. In 2017 Ghose was awarded the C.H.Mohammed Koya National Award for journalism.
