  1. This wasn’t a historical reproduction, but a rare, modern instrument. She has been performing the clarinet concerto of Mozart (and his clarinet quintet), in a reconstructed version with deeper passages. She made the clarinet, an almost forgotten member of its clarinet family that is 18 cm longer than normal, and the ability to produce the lower notes of C to E, well-known again because of her fame. Other soloists followed her lead and played the Mozart concerto back to the clarinet on which he had composed it. Anton Stadler, his lodger and friend, premiered the Mozart concerto in Prague on 16 October 1791. They either use a historic instrument, a replica of Stadler clarinet, or a modern bass clarinet.

They have also recorded numerous CDs. She did a brief tour in late 2006 with the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. One of the highlights from this tour was her performance at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on 5/12/12 with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Meyer and her wind quintet were members of Claudio Abbado’s Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

She was a well-known solo clarinetist by the 1990s and recorded exclusively for the EMI label. French Recital is a CD that includes French music for Clarinet, Piano and Clarinet. In July 2007, she released a disc of clarinet concertos by Ludwig Spohr, Franz Krommer and her student Julian Bliss.
