Bergman’s first book Butch Is A Noun was published by Suspect Thoughts Press in September 2006. It was nominated in the LGBT Nonfiction category for a Lambda Literary Award. Arsenal Pulp Press published a new edition in 2010. Arsenal Pulp Press published Bergman’s second book in 2009, The Nearest Exit may Be Behind You. It was also a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in the Transgender category. He also co-edited Gender Outlaws, The Next Generation with Kate Bornstein, a genderqueer author. This book won a Lambda Literary Award for the LGBT Anthology category in 2011 and a Special Judges Award from Triangle. He also wrote four books for children, including The Adventures of Tulip, Birthday Wish Fairy, which was a finalist for the 2013 Lambda Literary Award in the LGBT Children’s/Young Adult category. A sixth book, Blood, Marriage, Wine & Glitter, was published by Arsenal Pulp Press on September 23, 2013.
