Ryan Mundy is one of the most popular and richest American football safety who was born on February 11, 1985 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Ryan Gregory Mundy, born February 11, 1985, is an ex- American football safety who played eight years in the National Football League (NFL). In the sixth round, 2008 NFL Draft, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the winner of Super Bowl XLIII, which he won with the Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals. He played college football in West Virginia and Michigan.
Mundy graduated in 2007 from Michigan with one year remaining. Mundy chose to transfer to West Virginia University instead of continuing his college football career at Michigan. He joined the Mountaineers football squad for the 2007 season. Mundy took advantage of an NCAA rule which allowed seniors to transfer to other schools and participate in athletics without the need to miss a season. This was if they wanted to pursue a specific field of study at another school. Mundy began his master’s in sports administration at West Virginia.
Mundy was selected in the sixth round (194th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mundy was the third player drafted from West Virginia in the 2008 Draft, preceded by Steve Slaton and Owen Schmitt. On June 14, Mundy signed a contract with the Steelers. In his first preseason game as a Steeler, Mundy recorded 3 tackles against the Philadelphia Eagles. In the game, he suffered a high ankle sprain and did not play in the remainder of the preseason. Mundy was released by the Steelers during final cuts. On November 11, Mundy was re-signed to the Steelers’ practice squad. On February 6, 2009, Mundy was re-signed by the Steelers to a future contract. At the end of the 2010 season, Mundy and the Steelers appeared in Super Bowl XLV against the Green Bay Packers. He had one total tackle in the 31–25 loss. Mundy recorded a 33-yard reception on a fake punt vs. TEN (10/9/11). On September 26, 2012, Mundy was fined $21,000 for an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit against Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Mundy signed with the New York Giants on March 14, 2013. His 91-yard interception return was the 3rd longest in Giants history since 1941.
During the 2007 preseason training, Mundy did well in practice. Mundy recorded five tackles in his first game against Western Michigan. Mundy, with six tackles and five tackles in the second game, pounced upon a Marshall fumble to retrieve the ball for the Mountaineers. Mundy had four tackles in the USF loss and also recorded his first interception as Mountaineer. In the 55-14 victory at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse, Mundy intercepted Syracuse’s first drive after a tip pass. Mundy had five tackles and two pass deflections in the win against Mississippi State. Mundy also recorded an interception against Rutgers that he returned for 32 yard. He also hit Tiquan Underwood, a receiver, to save a touchdown and 5 total tackles. Mundy recorded 4 tackles and two pass deflections in the wins over Cincinnati and Louisville. He also recovered a fumble against Cincinnati. Mundy only had one tackle in the Big East win over UConn (66-21), but did recover a fumble. Mundy was awarded the Coaches Contribution Award at the end of the regular-season. Mundy recorded 11 tackles in his final game of college, the victory over Oklahoma at Fiesta Bowl 48-28.

Mundy was a University of Michigan student in 2003. He played 11 games in his first year. In 2004, Mundy was a sophomore and played in 12 games at no cost.
