Ryan James Buchter, born February 13, 1987, is an American professional baseball pitcher with the Los Angeles Angels (MLB). He has previously played for the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres as well as the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics.
He was added to the Braves’ 40-man roster by the Braves on November 1, 2013. On Opening Day 2014, he was also named to the Braves Opening Day roster. Buchter was sent down to Gwinnett the next day, but he did not appear in a single game. Buchter was summoned back to Atlanta on June 20, 2014. Buchter made his major league debut against the Washington Nationals team that drafted and recorded a strikeout. He also earned the win in extra innings. He made his Majors debut that night and spent the remainder of the season at Gwinnett where he plied in 49 games with a 3.29 ERA. Buchter was removed from the Braves roster in September 2014 and became an unrestricted free agent.
On July 24, 2015, Buchter signed a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs. He became a free agent after the season.
Buchter signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in January 2015 and received an invitation to spring training. He was assigned to the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers and was selected to the mid-season Pacific Coast League all-star team. In 27 games he had a 1.65 ERA and exercised his opt out clause on July 20 to become a free agent.
Buchter was traded to the Atlanta Braves by the Cubs for Rodrigo Lopez May 26, 2011. Buchter was immediately assigned to the Lynchburg Hillcats in the Carolina League. He was 2-5 with a 3.59 ERA and 15 saves in 34 games. He began 2012 with the Double-A Mississippi Braves. There he was 3-1 in 35 games with a 1.31 ERA and four saves. He was selected again to the Southern League All-Star mid-season team. He was then promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett Braves. There he plied eight innings in nine games and had a 10.12 ERA. After the end of the regular season, he played in the Arizona Fall League for the Phoenix Desert Dogs.

Buchter was selected by the Washington Nationals in 33rd round in 2005 Major League Baseball draft. He was born at Highland Regional High School, Blackwood, New Jersey. Buchter played college baseball at Gloucester County College, Sewell, New Jersey in 2006 before signing with the Nationals. In 2006, he began his professional career at the Gulf Coast Nationals.
