Ryan grew up in a racing family with his uncle, who was a racer in the Esso Formula Ford 1600 Championship. Ryan began racing go-karts at 6 years old at Mosport International Raceway Development track in Bowmanville (Ontario, Canada). He won one race and was 3rd in Novice Championship.

Ryan returned to the track in 2008 Ryan would race a Nissan Sentra GT-D in the Ontario Sprints Championship. Ryan was just 10 points behind 1st in the championship, and his best finish was 2nd at Mosport in rain.

In 2010, Ryan started the season weak finishing outside the top 10 in the first three races. After the race the first few races, Ryan began to pick up momentum, finishing 7th in Toronto. At the last race at Circuit ICAR, Ryan started at the back on Sunday and rose through the field to finish 5th, becoming his best finish in Touring. Ryan finished 8th in points, in the 2010 season. In the 2011 season Blanchet again finished eighth in points.

Ryan, Greg’s brother and driver coach in 2007, was replaced by Ryan. Greg began racing in 1999. Greg’s best season was 2007, when he raced in the Senior Rotax Class. Greg took his first pole at the Hersey Centre Grand Prix that year. Greg would end his racing career there. He was losing interest in racing as a child.

Ryan Blanchet, a Canadian touring car driver, was born June 12, 1990 in Ajax (Ontario, Canada). He competes in Canada’s only professional Touring Car Championship: the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship. He goes by the nickname “BL”

Ryan raced from 1998 to 2003 at Simcoe Kart Club, Sutton, Ontario Canada. Ryan won the Novice/Cadet category with 23 wins in 36 races over a three-year period at Simcoe. Ryan began racing in 2004 with the Toronto Kart Club, Goodwood Kartways, just outside of his hometown of Uxbridge (Ontario, Canada). Ryan’s karting career ended in 2006, at 16 years old. He had completed 10 seasons of club racing as well as 4 seasons of provincial championships.

In 2009, Blanchet joined his father in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship. Ryan raced very clean all season and had an average finishing place of 9th in the 2009 season, with a best finish 8th at the last race at Circuit ICAR. Ryan finished 7th in the championship in his rookie year which led to the CTCC Touring Rookie of the Year Award.
