Rumesh Joseph Ratnayake, born January 2, 1964, is a former Sri Lankan player who played in 23 Tests as well as 70 ODIs between 1982 and 1993. He is currently the fast bowling coach for Sri Lanka’s national cricket team.
Ratnayake had been linked to the assistant coaching position for the Sri Lankan cricket team in May 2007. Some claimed he was given the interim coaching position. He was eventually offered the job of deputy coach, but he declined it in June 2007.
Ratnayake, who was a development officer at the Asian Cricket Council in 2003, was also a selector and coach for the Asian Dream Team. This was a team made up of smaller Asian cricketing countries that played six matches in Sri Lanka.

In August 2011, he became the head coach of Sri Lankan national team. In 8 August 2017, after Champaka Ramanayake resigned, Ratnayake was again appointed as the fast bowling coach of the national team.
