Roswietha Zbelt (nee Reichel), a German rower, was born 24 November 1954. She competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics as well as the 1980 Summer Olympics for East Germany.
Barbara Muller trained her and she finished second in the coxed quad-scull at 1972 East German national championships. One month later, she won the quad scull gold and the eighth at the fourth Spartakiad. She won the title in coxed quad sailing at the 1973 East German national championships. Her SG Dynamo potsdam team mate Ursula Wagner also participated in the double scull and came second. The quad scull team qualified for the 1973 European Rowing Championships, where they won gold. The European Championships was the most successful rowing event for women until 1973, as women’s rowing had not been introduced to the world championships or the Olympic Games in 1976. In January 1974, all gold medallists received an award. Reichel was awarded a Master of Sport award. Reichel’s quad-scull race was abandoned at the 1974 national championships. However, they were still nominated to the 1974 World Rowing Championships. They were successful, and they were among four East German women’s rowing teams to win the inaugural world championship titles.
