Rossy Evelin Lima is one of the most popular and richest Poet who was born on August 18, 1986 in Veracruz, Mexico. Lima was the daughter of Mexican parents and was born in Veracruz (Mexico) on August 18, 1986. Her family immigrated to the United States via a river crossing at the age of 13. Her family settled in Texas, where she had to adjust to the new educational system. Lima stated that school was a new system and made her feel scared and lonely. My brain and lips were not connected, and I struggled to learn a language. I could barely communicate with my teachers and classmates. Lima was a strong teenager and discovered her love for poetry and literature. In 2005, she graduated from PSJA Memorial High School. Lima received a bachelor’s degree in Literature in 2009 from the University of Texas-Pan American. She also earned her master’s degree in literature from the university the following year. Lima then went on to receive a doctorate in linguistics at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She was accepted into DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

Texas Review wrote that Lima’s immigrant journey and her “roots” are the central themes of Aguacamino/Waterpath (2015) poetry. They wrote, “Lima’s participation in her multifaceted identity allows for her to realize her immigrant as well as writing experiences, creating a visceral, critically needed prism.”

Poet Laureate of the United States, Juan Felipe Herrera, wrote that Migrare, mutare (2017) is “A magnificent set of poems, in a most appropriate time.”

She was awarded the Premio Internazionale Di Poesia Altino in 2015 for Citlalicue, a poem she wrote. In 2016, she was presented with the Orgullo Fronterizo Mexicano Award by the Institute for Mexicans Abroad. She was first in 2017 Concorso Internazionale di Poesia La Finestra Eterea in Milan.
