Horlaville relocated from the local team Oissel in the Oissel region to Arnaud Dos Santos’s Rouen in 1988. Horlaville’s “Red Devils” finished 11th in Group A of Division 2 in 1988-89, then finished third in Group B from 1989 to 1990 the following year, and fiveth overall in group B from 1990 to 1991, seventh Group A from 1991 to 1992 Third in Group B in 1992-93, later 19th within the grouping of Division 2 in 1993-94 as they faced relegation. He was released from Stade Robert Diochon, and was signed by Division 1 club Cannes from 1994. The club’s top scorer scoring 11 goals in league play during 1994-95, as they clinched an average finish in the table under Safet Susic’s leadership. He had 12 goals in league play between 1995 and 1996 to assist in steering Guy Lacombe’s “Red Dragons” away from the zone of relegation.
Horlaville began his journey with Guingamp in 1996. He played for the side of Francis Smerecki to take home their first UEFA Intertoto Cup, scoring an assist in the first phase of the semi-final with FC Rotor Volgograd. Horlaville also played for Parc des Princes in defeat to Nice in the final of the Coupe de France; he made a goal from his penalty during the shoot-out, but Nice defeated 5-4. They were unable to translate this winning streak into the league , however they finished 12th in the 1996-97 season. He left Stade de Roudourou for Le Havre and was able to finish eighth in 1997-98, under the supervision by Denis Troch.
Horlaville played two months in the First Division of the English Football League on loan with John Rudge’s Port Vale in the 1998–99 season. He made his debut at Vale Park as a 68th-minute substitute for Robin Berntsen on 14 November, in a 2–0 defeat to Sunderland. He made his first start for the “Valiants” seven days later in a 2–1 defeat to Oxford United at the Manor Ground. On 3 January, he played as a substitute in a 3–0 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup, in what was his last game for the club.
