Roslyn McCallister, a May 30, 1965, African-American civil rights leader and healthcare executive, is a health activist. On February 20, 2010, she was elected to succeed Julian Bond, the chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She is the fourth woman to hold the post and the youngest to do so.

Brock was a freshman at Virginia Union University when she joined the NAACP. She was then named Youth Board Member in the following year. Under the guidance of Benjamin Hooks, NAACP executive director, her 1989 master’s thesis was entitled “Developing an NAACP Health Outreach Programme for Minorities”. In 1991, she started Health Symposiums at NAACP National Conventions. She was also Vice Chairman of NAACP Health Committee. In 1999, she was elected Chair of the Convention Planning Committee.

Julian Bond, who had served as NAACP Chairman from 1998, stayed on in the position through 2009 as the organization celebrated its 100th anniversary. Brock was chosen as Bond’s successor on February 20, 2010, at the age of 44. She is the youngest person ever to serve as NAACP Chairman.
