Ronnie Ash, born July 2, 1988, is an American hurdler. He won the semi-final round at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Sacramento, California with his 110m hurdles of 12.99 (+1.2). He is now the 17th fastest hurdler ever.

Ash didn’t finish in the final. Later in the season Ash was named silver medalist at IAAF Continental Cup 2014. He was selected because his time was the #2 from all the Americas countries for the season.

He switched to Oklahoma University the following season, where he won his indoor title and finished third outdoors. He finished third at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships just a few weeks later. He ran a sub-13 mile for the first and only time with a 12.98. He was blown at +3.1 mph, which is well above the legal limit. Ash was born in Passaic, New Jersey and grew up there. He began his hurling career at Knightdale High School, Knightdale, North Carolina, after transferring from the high school in his senior year. He had no previous athletic experience and was quickly recruited by David Castell, the track coach and basketball coach. He said that he joined the track team to meet new people and it worked out. He set school records for the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and high jump. He graduated in 2008 and was able to compete in the 2008 NACAC U-23 Championships in Athletics. He won a bronze medal, behind future world champions Jason Richardson, Ryan Brathwaite, and the 110m hurdles.

Ash didn’t have high expectations when he graduated high school and did not plan to attend college. However, he was offered a place at Bethune-Cookman University. He won the NCAA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship and NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Bethune-Cookman as a sophomore. This was over Richardson.

He reached the 2016 Olympic final and was in contention for a medal before stumbling over the final hurdle and falling. He was ultimately disqualfied for an illegal hurdle clearance under then IAAF rule 168.7b.
