Ron Hornaday Jr. is one of the most popular and richest Racing Driver who was born on June 20, 1958 in Palmdale, California, United States. Hornaday was unsuccessful in his first attempt to qualify for Daytona 500. He had the slowest qualifying time and then lacked the speed necessary to remain in the draft of his Budweiser Duel Race. Hornaday was successful in his second attempt and qualified for his first race since 2012. Hornaday was 42nd because of his rear gear breaking. To prepare for Martinsville, his team skipped the West Coast swing races. After crashing his car in qualifying, he did not qualify. He and the team parted after Hornaday failed to qualify again at Bristol.

He finished fifth in points in 1997, despite winning seven races, two of them by leading each lap. In 1998, he was able to win his title again with six wins and 16 top five finishes in 27 races. He celebrated his victory at Memphis 200 with a burnout. This was a rare occurrence in 1998 and angered Dale Earnhardt, the team owner, for risking the engine’s health.

In 1999, he won the 100th race ran in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series history at the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. He was one of four drivers entered in the race that competed in every truck race since its inception at the time for an extra $100,000 if he won, which he did. However, he was unable to capitalize on it and win the championship, finishing seventh in the final standings after an up and down year. Fortunately, he was given an opportunity late in the year to replace Dale Earnhardt Jr. in driving the No. 3 NAPA- sponsored Chevy for DEI’s Busch program with Earnhardt moving up to the cup series, and he announced that he would do so the following year.

Hornaday began racing full-time in the Busch Series in 2000. He picked up wins at Nazareth Speedway and Indianapolis Raceway Park and finished fifth in points, runner-up to Kevin Harvick for Rookie of the Year honors. He was also voted Most Popular Driver. However, Earnhardt elected to move Hornaday’s team up to the Cup series in 2001 and hire Michael Waltrip to drive the car, and Hornaday was released.

Hornaday was born in Palmdale in California. He began his racing career early on in his career, starting with go-karts as well as motorcycles. He eventually moved up to race stock cars at Saugus Speedway. He won the Southwest Series championship and was awarded the Most Popular Driver Award in 1992. He also won the Southwest championship in the following year, making him the first driver to do so in series history. Jim Pettit won back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2005. Pettit was crowned the winner of the title in 2011 with the SRL Southwest Tour Series.
